| Making A
Name In Architectural Services |
 |
|
Residential
Reformation plan and implement smart automation systems for multi-million
dollar properties. In 2002 Manmade was
commissioned to rebrand the company.
The firm is unique in assessing the lighting,
electrical, data and telecom needs of a home by reviewing the lifestyle
requirements of the individual inhabitants, rather than from a purely
technical perspective. They felt that their corporate image did not
reflect this holistic approach to architectural services as, in the
minds of their customers, the firm’s name was often associated
with the services of a general contractor.

NAMING
As the company’s services were primarily specified by architects
and interior designers, it was determined that the new brand should
speak more directly to this aesthetically-conscious market. The company
name was changed to ReForm Design Group, with the
primary brand identity reduced to simply ReForm. The new name retains
the transformational nature of the previous identity while reinforcing
their design-conscious approach.

LOGO DESIGN
Both upper and lower case letterforms are used in the wordmark to
offer a second read of “regarding form”, reinforcing the
themes of design and architecture. The color palette was chosen for
its bright, modern feel and its distance from any competing brand
colors.
Research into architectural and electrical symbols led to adoption
of the line as a visual device—in electrical planning a line
represents wiring or cables. A green line is used throughout the company’s
literature to reference their ability to connect all the elements
of a smart home.

INFORMATION DESIGN AS MARKETING TOOL.
In addition to their stationery system and a
simple web brochure, the ReForm identity has been applied to the company's
complete set of planning and presentation documents. Through discussions
with the client we were able to crystallize their unique approach
into a Process Timeline. The Timeline has proven to be very succesful
in conveying the company's methodology. Originally intended as an
internal document, it is now used as a marketing and presentation
device and as a download from the ReForm site.
RESULTS
Since the rebranding the company has developed relationships with
some of the largest developers and architectural firms in the area.
They directly attribute this attention to their modern and appropriate
identity.

“When we hand people a business
card they sit up and take notice. The level of design visible
in our documentation has really made an impact on new clients.
The brand not only communicates our different and somewhat unconventional
approach, it has served to legitimize that approach through
its professional execution.”
